Growing up in a small town north of Boston, Aaron was raised in a family that valued good food. He learned to cook at a young age, and grew up harvesting fresh veggies in the summer from his family's kitchen-garden. While he didn't end up earning a culinary degree like his brother, he has come a long way in the food industry since his first jobs as a bag-boy at a local grocery and pizza delivery driver. After graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a Bachelor's degree in Hydrology and Water Resources, Aaron moved to Jackson, WY. It was in this unlikely setting that he really dove head-first into the world of food, working for years for a James Beard-nominated chef at one of the area's top fine-dining restaurants. After leaving Jackson, Aaron moved with his wife to co-manage a small, organic farm outside of Taos, NM.
Aaron continues to build what he likes to call an "eclectic resume." Now living in Santa Fe, NM, he fulfills his many joys through solid, albeit seasonal positions: in the summers, co-managing a culinary garden for a local fine-dining restaurant with his wife; in the winters, ski patrolling and field research in snow science; and writing year-round as a review-editor for both OutdoorGearLab and TechGearLab. In a previous life, he worked on the business side of the ski industry, holding jobs ranging from retail sales in core shops, to assistant buyer, to marketing manager. Aaron draws heavily on this experience to dissect nuanced technical details to help craft world-class reviews.
