Amber King has been a gear tester and reviewer for over seven years with GearLab and has tested over 300 products. In a past life, she was a high school science teacher, educating the blossoming young generations of simple and complex scientific concepts, methods, and problem-solving techniques. She also worked as an aquatic biologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Parks Service, and the Division of Wildlife in Utah. This Northerner (originally from Toronto, Ontario) thrives testing gear as she gets to apply her scientific knowledge. When she's not tinkering, you'll find her reading science fiction thrillers, baking in the kitchen, and binge-watching terrible Netflix series and Disney movies. She loves learning new riffs on both the bass guitar and piano, especially if they herald from jazz legends. When she's not at home hobbying around, you can find her exploring the corners of Colorado and Utah through rock climbing, trail running, and mountain biking.
