Jessica Riconscente grew up scanning the warehouses of specialized machining equipment and computer component inventories. Her grandfather had created his own business, often being contracted to the US Defense sector to machine intricate parts for planes and satellites. Her mother followed in his footsteps creating her own business in computer distribution right after Jessica was born. Jessica would investigate those giant machines and play around in distribution docks pretending to be a part of business operations. This grew her passion for product development.
She followed her similar desire for technological innovation by attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where she received her B.S. in Industrial Technology. The degree, not known to many, highlights lean manufacturing processes and effective project management. An intermediary between a businessperson and engineer, Jessica's skill set trained her to understand engineering methods and utilize that to make informed business decisions. This spills over into her current position at GearLab where she is now on the other side of the spectrum supporting consumers. She is able to have a critical eye when assessing each product as part of a comprehensive test plan.
Since college, Jessica has explored the Southern hemisphere, living abroad for three years in New Zealand and Australia. Upon returning to the US, she settled into Tahoe to venture into her true passion of being outdoors. Jessica marks herself as a Jack of all trades, master of none when she's not assessing products. She enjoys the typical Tahoe adventure sports like backcountry skiing and climbing, but also enjoys birding, kayaking, cooking, and painting.
