Our Verdict

The Razer Iskur stands out as a top choice for gamers seeking a comfortable and immersive seating experience. It features an ergonomic design, high-density foam cushioning, and dynamic bucket racing seat design that conforms to your body shape, delivering unparalleled comfort even during prolonged gaming sessions, and feels the way a premium gaming chair should. Another notable feature that sets it apart from other chairs we tested is its lumbar support system. This system includes an adjustable curved support section in the backrest of the chair that provides a high level of support for your spine, and unlike many other lumbar pillows isn't as finicky and doesn't require frequent readjusting. Comfort

Our first and most important test metric for evaluating gaming chairs examined comfort. Its significance carried the most weight in determining scores for each model, 55% of each chair's overall score. Our test team conducted a comprehensive evaluation to assess the comfort of the Razer Iskur in a process that involved the evaluation of individual components, including armrests, backrest, seat, reclining positions, materials, and lumbar support. We also involved a team of testers from the GearLab office to gather opinions on comfort. We generated a wide range of results from persons ranging from small and rather lightweight to tall and heavy. Lastly, our team collaborated to determine the number of hours the average person can expect to be able to sit in each chair with adequate comfort.

Our first submetric evaluated the seat comfort of the Razer Iskur, which was the most comfortable seat we tested. It's not quite as firm as other premium chairs, so doesn't require much break in time before offering peak comfort. Our only criticisms were minor, and involved the bolstering at the sides of the seat that are part of an aggressive bucket seat design. Our taller and larger test team members felt they were too large and restrictive, preventing any lateral stretching or spreading of the legs. However, average size gamers are unlikely to notice or take issue with the bolstering.

The armrests of the Razer Iskur are made of high quality materials and are some of the most comfortable we tested, as you would expect from a premium gaming chair. However, these armrests trend toward overly firm, and weren't as well received by our test team as one other top model.

The Razer Iskur backrest is the most comfortable backrest our team tested, due to its comfortable padding, synthetic leather, and contoured design. It also includes an interesting lumbar support, that is different from the lumbar pillows typically used in a lot of gaming chair designs. The built-in lumbar curve contours to the natural curve of your spine, and is fully adjustable enhancing the chairs overall comfort.

Finally, we evaluated the optimal duration of comfort one can expect while seated in each gaming chair. We carefully gauged whether models are more suitable for shorter gaming sessions or extended day and night campaigns. After collaboration within the test team, we derived an average figure. The Razer Iskur offers sufficient comfort for gaming sessions lasting up to eight hours, making it one of the most comfortable choices for prolonged periods in a seated position.

Adjustability

We compared the all-around adjustability of the Razer Iskur to other gaming chairs and determined whether the seat, backrest, armrests, and reclining positions could be sufficiently adjusted to achieve the ideal gaming experience.

The Razer Iskur is equipped with 4D armrests that allow for complete adjustability. Armrests can be adjusted up and down, forwards and backwards, left and right, and can also be rotated to point inwards or outwards, so any size gamer can achieve the most ergonomic arm resting position.

The seat height also offers one of the greatest range of adjustments of all the models we've tested. However, like many other models the lever placement is difficult to reach from the seated position while trying to adjust it to the desired height, and requires a little bit of a lean.

As we've already mentioned when discussing the comfort of the backrest, the Razer Iskur incorporates a unique adjustable lumbar panel, that won't move over time and require re-adjusting.

Setup

For our final evaluation of the Razer Iskur, we assessed the assembly process from the moment it arrives in a box to the point that it could be used for gaming. Once again, this chair received a great score for an easy and straightforward setup process.

The Razer Iskur arrived well organized and ready to assemble, and took one of our test team members less than 15 minutes to put together before it could be sat in and used. The process is easy with large diagrams that leave no ambiguity about parts and their locations. Assembly requires putting four major parts together, the back, base, casters, and gas cylinder, then placing two covers, and the head pillow. It is as simple as it gets in the word of gaming chairs, and an included T-handle allen wrench with a comfortable grip make it a painless process.

Should You Buy the Razer Iskur?

While the Razer Iskur didn't score quite as well as our overall top pick, our team had to split hairs to award a winner. The Iskur is exceptionally well suited for those who prefer the support of a more aggressive bucket seat design, especially with more seat bolstering, as well as more positive engagement from a tension knob. Depending on your specific budget, this chair is also a little more affordable than our overall top pick, without compromising on adjustability, and is one of our top recommendations. Our team was highly satisfied with model, and believe you will be too.

What Other Office Chairs Should You Consider?

While the Razer Iskur is an exceptional chair, it was ever so slightly beat overall by the SecretLabs Titan Evo 2022, which was the most comfortable chair our team tested, and a better option if you prefer a less aggressive bucket seat design than the Iskur. For individuals seeking a more budget-friendly option, the GTRacing Music Series is a compelling choice, offering an impressive level of comfort and nearly all the adjustability seen in premium models, with the added bonus of built-in speakers. Alternatively, for those on an extremely tight budget, the GTPlayer GT800A Footrest is worth considering. Despite its significantly lower cost compared to the premium chairs we tested, it still provides a reasonable level of comfort suitable for most gaming needs, and as the name implies, offers a footrest.
