This is well-built and shines brightest in durability and load capacity, handling several drop tests with ease. The legs are extra beefy, and the joints are all metal, which isn't surprising given its high load capacity of 88 lbs (for reference, most of the tripods in our review can handle between 10-20lbs of equipment). This model also has a taller-than-average max height of 6 feet, which is nice for sporting events or concerts where you want to see over the crowd. It's also stable enough that we were less worried about it getting knocked over when setting up on the sidelines.

The leg locks on the Winston 2.0 also allow even greater reinforcement and are easily adjusted by pulling up on the leg lock tabs at their top. This model also uses a simple design that's easy to adjust, with twist locks along the legs and center column.

The Winston 2.0 will be appreciated by those who need a lot of stability when shooting and want a tripod that is durable enough to hold up to years of use and abuse; you'll be hard-pressed to find anything quite as robust in this tripod class.

Dislikes

The Winston is an extremely expensive tripod. It is one of the few in its class that can support so much weight, but you'll pay twice as much as lighter-duty options. It is also not particularly portable, with a folded length of 24 inches, which is too long to fit in most backpacks. You'll have to strap it to the outside of your camera bag or carry it alone in its case.

This model also isn't the lightest, coming in at 4.5 pounds. Considering its strength-to-weight ratio, we found the weight justifiable for short distances, especially since the heaviest camera equipment isn't necessarily going far from the car anyway.

This hefty model is best if you plan to shoot with heavier camera equipment and have a shorter walk to the photo shoot. This tripod is also very hard on the wallet, so make sure it's the one you need before making a final decision.
