Our Verdict

As the recipient of our coveted Best Buy award, the E-Work EK-01GYG was a standout due to its spectacular power-to-price ratio, and notable ergonomics. Not only did it come with two batteries for extended work time, but it also tested amazingly when it came to ambidexterity and agile handling. This is a perfect blower for those smaller jobs that need to get done quickly. As one of the lightest blowers we reviewed and swift charge time, it might be the perfect fit for a family household, however, if you're someone looking to tackle bigger and more strenuous jobs, then this may not be the product for you. Our Analysis and Test Results

When it comes to having a valuable, easy-to-use, lightweight, and nimble battery operated leaf blower, no other products compare to the EWORK EK-01GYG. At just $140, its simple control trigger can change and maintain speeds while the turbo has enough power for some medium, small, and quick jobs, all while being light as a feather. Weighing in at only 5 lbs, its ambidexterity is unbeatable, and the two included batteries allow for a combined runtime of almost 25 minutes. If you're considering purchasing a tool that will suit the whole family while still packing enough punch to hit the yard, then the EWORK is for you.

Power

Our chief metric in our our comprehensive test plan is power and gauging each blower's ability to produce force for tackling all necessary jobs.

First, we use an anemometer and pitot tube to measure airflow and air velocity at both 5 inches and 30 inches from the end of each blower's nozzle. We then create a real-world test by blowing leaves and debris across the grass, noting each blower's time in correspondence to their previous data.

The EWORK came in under par for its power compared to many other models, but the power-to-weight ratio combined with reasonable value makes it a clear choice for those shopping on a budget. Thanks to its additional turbo button, we were able to finish our real-world test by clearing large leaves and debris within 70 seconds. While having just enough gumption to tackle most jobs around the house this is also a great buy for the whole family, as everyone can pick it up and get going around your home.

Despite not having a staggering amount of power, the EWork did reasonably well in our real-world test using larger-than-average leaves.

Battery

No matter what type of battery-operated tool you may be using, it's always a prayer to not run out of juice midway through a job. That's why our next most important metric is battery. At 25% of the overall score, we tested each system's battery extensively, observing charge times, and runtime on both high and turbo modes.

The EK-01GYG scored middle of the pack in our thorough battery metric testing program. However, its short charge time took us by surprise and its runtime was reasonable enough to complete small jobs. The EWORK also came with two batteries included, which got us extra juiced at a combined tested runtime of almost 25 minutes total.

Another saving grace for this particular machine is that it charged in one of our shortest measured times at just 60 minutes per 21V, 3 amp-hour battery. Both of these bonuses gave this blower a leg up in clocking more working time per hour. Despite these upsides, if you're looking for a blower that has compatibility across different tools and even batteries, then the EK-01GYG may not be for you, seeing as it comes with brand-specific batteries and no other selection of tools.

Ergonomics

Despite our ergonomics metric only counting for 15% of the overall score, this was one area where the EWORK shone brightly compared to many other blowers. Throughout our strenuous testing, this model had near-perfect ambidexterity and ease of use. When operating it was nimble and had nearly zero blowaround on turbo mode and no vibration making it swift to accomplish smaller, more detailed jobs.

Not only did the EK-01GYG score near the top of the pack in our ergonomics test, but we also weighed the unit, and to our delighted discovery, it was easily one of the lightest models we tested, coming in at just 5 lbs battery attached.

With that little weight, we found it to be perfect for nearly anyone in the family. Its easy grip, ambidextrous turbo button, and variable trigger allowed for flawless control and simplicity when it came to doing some fine-tuning around the driveway, walkway, or garage.

Noise

Power, battery, and ergonomics are all important factors to consider in a leaf blower, but with any neighbors, children, or animals in the nearby vicinity, it can become immensely important to evaluate the sound and pitch of each product. Therefore, we used an SPL meter to assess the decibels that each blower emitted. Compared to gas-powered leaf blowers, battery-powered models can be much quieter; however, they sometimes produce unpleasant sounds, squeaks, or squeals.

Despite having a smaller CFM output, the EK-01GYG did emit some noise, although it didn't contain any major squeals or shrill sounds associated with it when it was running. Even without any irritating noises, we measured the unit at 86 dBa, which may be enough to wake most sleeping children or stir up the neighborhood animals.

What Other Leaf Blower Should You Consider?

If something that you care about is multi-tool and battery compatibility, the Makita 36 LXT Brushless Blower Kit has two 18V Makita batteries that are usable across their entire lineup of Makita 18V power tools. Another “ace” when it comes to power and runtime would be the Husqvarna Leaf Blaster 350iB that scored well in our power metric and ran for over 37 minutes on one battery.
