Our Analysis and Test Results
Likes
When it comes to tackling three days' worth of growth, the Bambaw is no slouch. It was our primary razor for about three weeks, and we liked how it efficiently and smoothly mowed down stubble.
However, it's just slightly behind top-performing razors. Specifically, we don't feel the Bambaw shaves as closely as the other safety razors, something this style usually excels at. But for the price, it still does a good job.
We loved this razor's shaving head. The Bambaw head curves, which bows the blade. This bowing naturally stiffens the blade, giving it more tensile strength and allowing it to cut through thick stubble more easily. This bowed positioning also slants the edge of the blade so it moves across the skin at a better angle without having to twist your arm. Since safety razors lack pivoting heads, this added angle makes the shaving process a little easier.
Dislikes
We really liked the overall performance and construction quality of the Bambaw. It produces a decent shave and is built to last for decades if treated with care. However, some of our testers didn't care much for its handle's size and shape, which is small and basic.
A few thought the handle was a bit dainty, making it difficult to secure a firm grip between the thumb and fingers. We also felt the handle was not long enough. A longer handle is easier to place in the palm, gives the razor more balance, and ultimately gives the user more leverage and control. We did, however, love the etched texture on the Bambaw's handle, which provided good grip.
Should You Buy the Bambaw Double Edge Safety?
While we enjoy the quick and easy glide of this razor and its reusable design, it's a bit finicky to clean and takes longer to replace the blades than other safety razors we tested. Better cartridge options exist in this price range, and you can get a really great safety razor for just a few bucks more.
What Other Razors Should You Consider?
We think the Vikings Blade The Godfather is one of the best safety razors on the market, and if you are ready for a top-tier model that is built to last a decade or more, you won't be disappointed. It offers a close shave and is very ergonomic. We also love the Vikings Blade Chieftain Odin. It also offers a smooth, close shave and has a twist-open shaving head that makes changing blades a breeze. It is nearly double the price, though.
