Our Verdict

The Ninja Never Clog Cold Press juicer ranked very well in our testing and stood out across categories. We found this machine was able to handle all manner of fruits and vegetables without any issues. The “reverse” function made it easy to undo any jams that may happen with particularly fibrous foods. And the yield from leafy greens was notable high. If you plan to regularly juice kale, spinach, or other greens this is clearly a top pick. Our testers repeatedly noted how delicious the texture of juice is from this model, earning it a spot among the best juicers.

Our Analysis and Test Results

This horizontal masticating juicer stood out across testing categories. It created smooth and delicious juices with anything we threw at it and had standout green yields. We found it simple to use and while there are numerous parts to clean, it was easy enough to get it sparkling clean each time. And even though there are several parts to reassemble each time, our test team noted that it was a simple and straightforward process to setup and use this juicer.

Juice Quality

The Ninja Never Clog was among the top rated for juice quality across the board. For this part of the test we focused on the texture, taste, and thickness. And to fully test a variety of produce, we used three different juice blends.

First up we have the Can't Beet It, followed by the Romaine - Apple - Orange blend, and a Sunset Blend.

With the Can't Beet It recipe, our tester noted that the juice had a great texture and mouthfeel after being strained. There was some separation immediately after juicing ended, but it came back together once it was strained. The Never Clog did make some strange squeaking noises during the juicing of the beets, but it didn't seem to affect overall performance.

The Romaine blend was also notably delicious wit this juicer. It was moderately thick and we did notice that quite a bit of foam was caught during the straining process. Some seeds and pulp from the cucumber did caught up in the auger, but everything was eventually pushed through.

The Sunset Blend juice also turned out well. The texture was smooth and creamy, without any aspect of grit or separation. We did have to use the pusher with gusto on this mix as it seemed the auger struggled a bit more to pull produce in. But once we pushed it through the end outcome was delightful and our favorite among the juicers we tested.

Soft Produce

The Never Clog performed above average during this testing category. It created some of the best orange and apple juice we've ever tried, and marginal cucumber and celery juice.

The Ninja Never Clog did okay with the cucumber juicing, but wasn't exceptional. It produced 198 milliliters after being strained, which was on the low side compared to other juicers we tested. It created quite a bit of pulp that had to be strained out, but very little foam. Overall the texture was on the light side after being strained.

The apple juice was above average. It had a yield of 205 milliliters and made no strainable pulp. We were impressed with both the texture and efficiency the Ninja Never Clog showed when making apple juice. It did have a layer of foam about 1/3" tall with dense, light-colored bubbles but the juice was quite light and very crisply delicious.

Now let's talk about the orange juice, where the Ninja Never Clog really excelled. It had incredible yield, hardly any pulp, and the best juice quality of any we've tested. Our testers loved the orange juice from the Never Clog and easily voted it a favorite. This made up for the fact that the celery juice scored okay, but not great. Our team found it to be a bit water and we had to cut the stalk up extra to fit into the narrow feed chute.

Hard Produce

As with most masticating juicers, the Ninja Never Clog struggled the most with hard produce. This is the only category that this machine came in below average during testing.

It had the hardest time with beets. We had to cut the beets smaller than the halves we were normally using, because of the narrow feed chute. It only produced 126 milliliters of juice and didn't have a high efficiency rating for juicing the beets. It also made some loud squeals during this portion of the test, which made us think it was struggling to get the beets through the auger. It also had a lot of foam with about 1/2" tall of dense bubbles. The overall flavor was good and the texture was enjoyable, but this machine didn't handle beets as well as some other juicers do.

The Ninja Never Clog did slightly better with carrots, though we did have to strongly use the pusher to get them through the auger. Surprisingly, it really shined bright when making sweet potato juice. It has a great yield at 202 milliliters and produced very minimal foam. We did catch quite a bit of pulp during the straining process, but the end result was very good. The juice was smooth and there was absolutely no chalky texture.

Leafy Greens

The Ninja Never Clog really stood strong during the leafy greens test.

This machine is unmatched when it comes to wheatgrass. We fed in 1 ounce and go .9 ounces of juice back! This was an incredible yield and anyone specifically looking for the best wheatgrass juicer should take note. It did make some squeaky noises during the process, but considering the delicious, foam-free result it was worth it.

Like the wheatgrass test, the kale and spinach tests revealed a strong yield. The kale juice was bit chunky and we found some unappealing stringy leftovers in the juice. The spinach was nicely thick and smooth, though, and had minimal pulp. Both juices had some foam, but nothing out of the norm.

Cleaning

The Ninja Never Clog isn't the absolute easiest juicer to clean, but is certainly above average.

The first thing to note is that there are a lot of parts with this juicer. We like that it comes completely apart so that you can fully clean and access all nooks and crannies. But it also means you have to disassemble to clean and reassemble to use every time. It's pretty easy to do after you've practiced a couple times, but it is worth noting.

Overall, though, the Ninja Never Clog is designed very well and cleaning was relatively easy. Every piece that comes in contact with juice is dishwasher safe, though you'll probably want to rinse and hand scrub certain parts. As with any juicer, the filters are the most likely place for debris to get stuck. We did have to scrub these to get them clean and we really wished there was a cleaning brush included. The food pusher, pulp container, and juice bowl were very easy to rinse clean. The strainer bowl occasionally got gunked up, especially when we had to use the reverse function to clear a blockage. We also found the lid quite a few ridges where juice and debris could stick.

What Other Juicers Should You Consider?

If you're looking for something that does better with hard produce like carrots and beets, you need to consider the Breville Juice Fountain Plus. This model was among the highest ranking for overall juice quality and a real standout with juicing carrots. It's also very easy to clean, which we like. Or if counter space and budget are limited, the Magic Bullet Mini is a great choice. While it doesn't do as well with leafy greens, it scored even better that the Ninja Never Clog for juicing hard produce and nearly identical with soft produce.
