SeeSii M6 Lite Review

Our Experience

We almost skipped this model entirely. In fact, early versions of this review skipped reviewing all 6-inch chainsaws because they seemed like cheap, lightweight toys rather than real tools. Boy, were we wrong.

The SeeSii M6 Lite blew us away with its nimbleness on 1- to 4-inch branches, quickly becoming our go-to saw for small and medium limbs. Comfortable one-handed operation makes a huge difference—allowing you to clear cut branches without constantly setting the saw down.

This efficiency led to a much better workflow: we could cut branches directly into a wheelbarrow instead of repeatedly setting the saw down, bending over, and picking everything up.

We put the SeeSii through the same rigorous testing as the big gas and full-size electric saws (adjusted for its miniature 6-inch bar). We timed cutting speed, measured battery life, evaluated ease of use, recorded noise levels, and ran it through a demanding endurance test. Unlike some competitors, it never stalled or quit on us.

Its tiny size also makes it incredibly maneuverable in tight spaces where a full-size chainsaw feels cumbersome. As one tester put it: “I was surprised how much more efficient it was than a standard chainsaw when cutting up branches. Being able to operate it with one hand really makes a difference.”

Likes

Our favorite thing about the SeeSii M6 Lite is how incredibly light and easy it is to handle. It earned a stellar 9.5 out of 10 on our Weight/Cutting Small Limbs metric. It completely eliminates the fatigue of carrying a heavy saw for simple pruning jobs.

There are very few chainsaws where you actually feel comfortable reaching overhead. With this one, as long as you have a stable footing, you can work in almost any position without worrying about a heavy, spinning chain.

We also love how quiet it is. At just 76.8 decibels, it's one of the quietest saws we tested — making it ideal for suburban neighborhoods where you don't want to disturb the neighbors.

The value is unbeatable. For a list price of around $50, the SeeSii M6 Lite comes with a carrying case and a surprisingly generous set of accessories — including eye protection and extra chains — so you have almost everything you need right out of the box.

Of course, you need to manage expectations with a few of the included items. The gloves are very lightweight and offer minimal protection, and the safety glasses are nothing special. We ultimately threw away the carrying case because it's bulky and requires careful, Tetris-style packing. That said, if you want to prevent bar oil from leaking during transport, the case is actually quite useful.

One standout bonus is that it includes multiple extra chains — something very few higher-priced, full-size chainsaws provide.

Dislikes

Naturally, a saw this small comes with significant limitations. It earned a low score of 4.0 out of 10 for Cut Capacity. If you try to push it beyond small branches, the performance drops off rapidly. Our tester said, “I found the batteries seemed to last forever when cutting 1-2 inch branches, but one larger tree nearly drained an entire battery.”

We were also disappointed by the charging time. Once the battery is drained, it takes over two hours (131 minutes) to fully recharge.

Additionally, the saw lacks an automatic chain oiler. You have to manually apply bar oil from a bottle, which is a tedious extra step compared to larger saws that handle this automatically. Bar oil is essential for reducing friction and keeping the chain running safely.

Finally, this is not the easiest saw to adjust. You need the included wrench to remove the bar and a screwdriver to tighten the chain. This was the biggest drawback for us. The only reason it didn't hurt the score more is that we didn't need to make frequent adjustments during normal use.

This is one area where the newer SeeSii models are a big improvement. They feature tool-free chain tensioning and much easier bar removal.

Should You Buy the SeeSii M6 Lite

If your yard work consists entirely of trimming small branches, cutting up fallen twigs, and managing light brush, we highly recommend the SeeSii Mini Cordless. It is cheap, highly portable, and perfectly suited for first-time buyers who might be intimidated by a full-sized, heavy chainsaw. However, if you plan to cut firewood, fell full trees, or cut logs thicker than 4 inches, you should save your money and invest in a larger, more capable machine.

What Other Chainsaws Should You Consider?

If you like the idea of a lightweight saw but need more cutting power, we highly recommend the Ego Power+ CS1201. It has a 12-inch bar and delivers surprising power for its size — we were even able to cut through a 20-inch log. At under 9 pounds, it's exceptionally light for its capability, but it's still over three times heavier than the SeeSii M6 Lite. It's not quite light enough for comfortable true one-handed use, and the manufacturer specifically recommends against operating it with one hand. It also costs about five times as much as the M6 Lite.

If you don't mind a little more weight, consider the bigger sibling to this saw: the SeeSii M8 Boost. It is about 30% heavier and more expensive than the M6 Lite.
