Our Levoit LVAC-300 Experience
We were thoroughly impressed with the Levoit LVAC-300, and we were equally impressed by how good a deal it is. Our house looked nice and tidy after this vacuum passed through, with cleaning low-pile carpet and hardwood being its biggest accomplishments. However, shag rugs were continually a problem; most stick vacuums struggle with this.
This vacuum is seriously easy to use, which is part of the reason we love it so much. It stands on its own, which isn't an obvious perk. However, the vacuums that don't stand on their own need to be laid down or leaned against a wall. Often when we leaned them on a wall to pick up a sock or placed them in our broom closet, they would topple over. Not the Levoit LVAC-300. This one stays upright. Walk away and come back, and it is right there waiting for you.
It's lightweight and feels like it too. It is easy to push around on hard floor and low-pile carpet, though it takes more muscle to push on high-pile carpet and over doorway ledges. Moving up and down the stairs was as easy as it gets. The light vacuum can be used to clean steps. Or, you can pull off the main stick and attach the motorized upholstery tool, which was our preffered way of cleaning stairs.
We also enjoyed the battery life indicator on the handle. Instead of lights or a bar, it tells you exactly how much battery you have left. We were able to plan our cleaning route and intensity based on this.
Our Analysis and Test Results
Carpet Performance
The LVAC-300 moved seamlessly across our low-pile carpet, picking up 91% of debris in the first 24 seconds. It then went on to clean up almost all of the debris we spilled - a feat many other stick vacuums struggle with. What was left was a small bit of sand deep in the carpet fibers.
The Levoit struggled more with high-pile, only picking up half of our mess. It manages to clean the surface mess, but anything deep within the fibers was left behind. It doesn't have a height adjuster, so it grazes over the carpet, picking up what it can but failing to pull debris deep within the fibers. If you have shag carpet, you'll need another, more powerful vacuum to do deeper cleans from time to time.
Hardwood Performance
In our timed test, the LVAC-300 was able to capture 97% of the mess on hardwood. While it needed a few passes over larger messes, it didn't get caught up on debris of various sizes. It also didn't spray sand all over, which we loved since many vacuums do.
Along baseboards, the Levoit left no crumb behind. Mixed debris was gobbled up, with just a few Cheerios left here and there. With another pass you will be able to get them up, but you may have to chase larger debris down with this vacuum when cleaning along edges.
Pet Hair
Like our carpet trials, the LVAC-300 did well on low-pile, but offered so-so results on high-pile. Hair that was only partially run over wouldn't make it into the vacuum, so in order to clean pet hair, it needs to run fully over the clump.
Our brushroll stayed fairly clean, though some longer strands did wrap around it. It has a quick-release brushroll so we weren't too annoyed when hair got stuck. It was quick and easy to dislodge it.
The dustbin is 0.8 liters, which is on the larger side for stick vacuums. If your pets shed a lot you might have to take multiple trips to the trash can. Otherwise, you'll be able to store a decent amount before dumping.
Ease of Use
We love this vacuum so much in large part because it is really easy to use. It does a good job maneuvering around furniture and tight corners. It is very lightweight (motor head is 3.5 lbs), so it feels effortless on hardwood, though on carpet at high suction it can take some elbow grease to push. Best of all, you can leave it standing upright and walk away. No need to worry about it falling in the coat closet.
New from the previous model is a motorized upholstery tool. The tool easily gobbled up coffee grounds on our couch and it made cleaning stairs a breeze. In general, we had little issue with cleaning stairs or up high because this vacuum is so light.
Filtration
The LVAC-300 is equipped with a 5-stage HEPA filtration system. In our tests, this system proved to be effective at keeping most particles inside the vacuum after being picked up. Allergy sufferers rejoice!

Battery
On low, the LVAC will run for 57 minutes. On high power, it can run for 16 minutes. Both of these run times are slightly better than average, but nothing to write home about.
What is worth praising is the battery life indicator on the handle. Rather than just a few dots, it actually tells you exactly how much battery percentage you have left. We found this accurate and a huge help when planning out our cleans. Only a few minutes left? Tackle the big stuff. A full battery at your disposal? Sounds like the whole house is getting cleaned.
