Our Analysis and Test Results
The Tineco Pure ONE S15 Pet strikes an appealing balance of user-friendly and performance-based features. The Zero Tangle Brush designed to grab hair and process it without wrapping around the bristles makes it a stand-out product for dealing with long or short animal hair.
Performance Comparison
Convenience
The convenience of a stick vacuum drives consumers to purchase these models instead of their canister counterparts. In this metric, we specifically tested the convenience-based features of each model. Our test team evaluated the included attachments, weight, battery life, and storage systems. The Tineco Pure ONE S15 Pet stood out for its attachment system and floor-based docking station.
This model has four additional components that can easily attach to the vacuum's base or shaft. This creates a versatile vacuum that stands out from the competition, with fewer attachments or lacking base mounting capabilities.
This cordless vacuum offered an average run time of 9 minutes and 53 seconds on maximum power and 26 minutes and 56 seconds when using the automatic setting that adjusts suction to the size of the detected debris. The battery recharged in an average time of 3 hours and 17 minutes.
Unlike other models, this includes a floor charging station with storage ports for the four accessories. Ideally, this would prevent losing any attachments included in the purchase. However, as time goes on, we expect this floor charging station to accumulate dirt and become an additional item to clean.
Hard Surface
Further tests evaluated the product's ability to vacuum different types of debris from hard surfaces. We used rice, cereal, pet hair, and flour on hardwood lament flooring. Overall, the Tineco offers average performance on hard surfaces that stood out during the rice and flour tests.
This model shined during our rice test, picking up the test pile on the first pass without leaving any dust, fragments, or grains behind. The smart detection suction levels increased to the maximum setting, and the product is a top performer within the category. The smart detection suction also helps collect flour and other fine messes but requires the user to go slow to let the vacuum sort out the desired suction levels. For smaller debris types, maximum suction is the most effective, and this model cleaned up our test pile within two passes.
To our surprise, the product offered average hard surface performance with oatmeal and cereal due to the low clearance attachments. This posed two main issues: we could not vacuum while pulling back or reversing. The second is that the larger debris formed a pile at each pass's end. It completed the job with some finagling to vacuum the last few pieces. It took four passes to complete both the cereal and oatmeal challenges.
Its average performance persisted in the pet hair test. It picked up hair with ease, and the brush remained tangle free.
Ease of Use
Our next metric looks at the ease of use of each model. Many consumers choose a stick vacuum because of its user-friendly nature and versatility. We calculated the ease of use score by navigating obstacle courses, utilizing decibel meters, and sampling the feature sets. The Tineco performed above average in these tests and stood out for its thoughtful features, like its one-touch dustbin cleaning system.
The dustbin is easy to clean and utilizes a circumferential scraping system to push all the debris from the canister into the trash. This resulted in an easier cleaning process and limited the amount of tangled hair and stuck debris. The Smart Suction enhanced the user experience as the vacuum can increase the battery's economy while obtaining the correct amount of suction for a particular mess. The model has a one-click trigger to turn it on and off, which helped reduce our forearm fatigue. The model produces an average amount of noise that varies depending on the amount of suction required for a particular mess.
The Tinecois a very maneuverable vacuum that excels in reaching far distances under the furniture. Our tests reached 37.5", the end of our simulated test couch. The standard brush attachment struggled with edging because of the added bulk, particularly when working head-on against the wall. The included crevice tool performed the edging tasks better.
Carpet Cleaning
The final metric we examined was the product's ability to clean different debris types from shallow, medium, and fluffy carpets. We used rice, flour, cereal, and pet hair, similar to our hard surface tests. Overall, the Tineco had an average performance in this metric but stood out in the flour, oatmeal, and pet hair tests while coming in just below average for rice and cereal.
Rice can pose a challenge for some products. The model picked up most of the mess on the first pass but frequently pushed rice grains deeper into the carpet, especially on the fluffy carpets. A less-than-inspiring yet informative test on the cheerios led to a clogged vacuum due to the small allowances. The rice and cereal tests highlighted an issue that may plague some users. It lost some rice and cereal due to the hinged flap design, which sometimes may not close to trap the medium to larger-sized debris.
The Tineco offers impressive performance on fine debris types such as flour, pet hair, and oatmeal. It picked up most of these messes on the first pass. It delivered superb performance when picking up the flour and oatmeal as it cleaned the entire mess and dust, all in a few passes. Now on to pet hair — the vacuum picked up 95% of the hair on the first pass. The performance is comparable with other top-of-the-line stick vacuums. Notably, we appreciated the lack of tangled hair in the roller, an advantage worthy of its pet-specific positioning.
Should You Buy the Tineco Pure One S15 Pet?
If you frequently find yourself cleaning up lots of pet hair and are looking for a vacuum that tangles less often, this model is right for you. Throughout the testing, it did a great job of avoiding the tangled bristles that plague so many vacuums. Also, if your least favorite part of vacuuming is cleaning the dust bin, then the easy one-touch system helps alleviate that hurdle. The average consumer could be underwhelmed with the performance of this vacuum, given the cost and its tendency to lose medium to large-sized debris.
What Other Stick Vacuums Should You Consider?
If you are a price-conscious consumer, the Eureka RapidClean is a great blend of performance and price. If you are shopping in the same price range as the Tineco but want better overall performance, consider our top-of-the-line Shark Stratos Cordless.
