Our Verdict

The Roborock Qrevo S5V delivers a premium feel without the sky-high price. Testing revealed that it's one of the best vacuums dollar-for-dollar. It's powerful, simple to use, and loaded with smart features that will actually make a difference in how you clean your home. Throughout testing, it delivered excellent mopping results and strong suction across both carpet and hard floors, leaving surfaces looking freshly cleaned without much (if any) debris left behind. Like most affordable models, the navigation was a bit of a weak point — it occasionally bumped smaller obstacles or missed tight corners — but it still managed to get the job done. Pet hair gave this robot some trouble. Even with those little flaws, this model outperforms other vacuums in its class with ease and competes with luxury models in some categories.

Our Roborock Qrevo S5V Experience

The Qrevo S5V is a diamond in the rough among mid-priced robot vacuums. We were most impressed by its vacuuming and mopping performance. One of our testers noted, “Wow, the carpet looks great! At first glance, there's no obvious debris left behind like crushed Cheerios or grains of rice.

The mop was another plus for us. It cleaned up 100% of our dried-on coffee spill, and it wasn't sticky after mopping - though the water left behind needed some extra time to dry.

Our carpets were nice and clean after the Qrevo finished up. Only some fine sand was left in the fibers.

The S5V is a vacuum we gladly have running while we work. It is quiet enough not to bother us, and the low hum isn't annoying.

Maintaining this robot is simple. The Roborock app is intuitive and allowed us to create schedules and map out our home (among many other great features). Further, the self-emptying dock and self-washing and warm air drying for the mop pads mean we barely had to think about the robot. It almost takes care of itself, but we found it best to clean up before running the vacuum.

However, we had mixed results with pet hair. On the one hand, it didn't pick up pet hair as effectively as we would have liked. On the other hand, the split brush roller is very easy to clean. Homes with lightly shedding pets should still be okay, but for heavy shedders, we aren't confident.

If you want a robot vacuum that delivers premium-level performance without the premium price, this is one of the best you can buy right now. It's powerful, smart, and genuinely easy to use. It may have some issues with navigation and pet hair, but it delivers reliable cleaning and minimal upkeep across the board. This kind of mopping performance is also almost unheard of at this price point.

If you're willing to tidy up before each run and you don't have a house full of shedding pets, this robot delivers outstanding value and performance that rivals far pricier models.

If you're looking for a robot that does it all and you have a big budget, you should check out the Roborock Saros 10R. It's truly a premium experience with high marks across all testing categories, especially on the navigation front. If you can handle the price tag, it will give you the most hands-off experience of any robot vacuum out there.

On the other hand — if you're looking for a budget option — take a look at the Roborock Q7 M5+. You're definitely taking a hit in performance across all metrics, but it's just as easy to operate and will save you a couple of hundred bucks. This is a great option for a first robot vacuum if you're just exploring the market.

Cleaning Performance

The Qrevo S5V impressed us with its ability to leave carpets and hard floors looking freshly cleaned after a single pass. At a glance, things looked perfect after our testing sessions.

The Qrevo cleaned 80% of the debris scattered on carpet and hard flooring. On the carpet, we were pleased with the way it appeared, only finding fine sand deep down in the fibers.

On hard flooring, our tester noted that it struggled with finer debris, writing it was “leaving behind a highly visible amount in even, perfectly spaced rows as if he were making sand art.” Despite the issue with sand, the vacuum still impressed us with its thorough coverage and ability to pick up larger debris. Still, you'll need to deep clean from time to time, as with most robot vacuums.

Along corners and walls, the vacuum cleaned up almost all of the coffee grounds. The results were comparable to high-end models and even surpassed some. Only one corner was left with some grounds, but otherwise, we were happy with the results.

Navigation

While the Qrevo S5V outperformed its fellow mid-tier robots in most categories, it still had some issues when it came to navigating our test space. It was never awkward enough that we called it quits, but it definitely didn't impress our tester.

This robot only managed to avoid 50% of the obstacles thrown its way during testing, and hit four of six simulated pet messes it should've dodged. It cruised over thresholds and was gentle when it bumped into furniture, but also had a tug-of-war incident with a thin charging cord that it refused to let go of.

Instead of slowing down and backing off from small items it encountered, it tended to shift into a higher gear and tried to eat them. This is why we'd recommend giving your house a quick tidy before sending off the robot. “Because of the drama with some small items, I would recommend doing some clean-up before leaving this robot to clean your house unsupervised,” wrote our tester.

That said, its mapping accuracy and ability to return to base without issue made daily use reliable. As long as you tidy up before cleaning, it should handle your space well.

In terms of room coverage, the Qrevo S5V had a decent offering. It covered 77% of the room, but didn't get tight along the walls. It did do well under our desk and along the office chair.

Ease Of Use

The Qrevo S5V is one of the easiest robots to operate out of all the vacuums we've tested. From setup to daily operation, everything feels intuitive and thoughtfully designed. The Roborock app is clean and powerful, offering customizable cleaning sequences, virtual mapping in 2D or 3D, and smart cleaning recommendations powered by AI.

The robot is fully equipped with:
  • Smart mapping
  • Multi-floor mapping
  • Virtual assistance
  • Do not disturb
  • Child lock
  • AI SmartPlan Cleaning strategies

There's voice control compatibility with Alexa, Siri, and Google if you'd rather speak to your robot than use the mobile app. During cleans, detected furniture and obstacles will be added to the in-app map and marked as hazards, allowing you to pinpoint tough spots to clean in your home or items you may want to pick up before the next clean.

Mapping is simple and easy to get going. The robot can map up to four floors. You are able to choose from 2D, 3D, or matrix views for the map. You can also add furniture, edit rooms, edit surfaces, and create cleaning sequences.

Pet Hair

Pet hair is the other test where this model underperformed, but it landed in the middle of the pack overall. It picked up a fair amount from open areas but struggled to fully remove strands from edges and corners, often pushing lighter fur around before eventually catching some of it.

This may not be an issue for you if pet hair is a secondary concern to general cleaning. You might have to have it give an area a second pass or do it yourself with a stick vacuum. But buyers with heavy shedding issues might want to think twice here.

The good news is that the dual brush design makes detangling a breeze and hair didn't wrap around the wheels like we've seen on other models. You probably won't have to break out the scissors to cut out tangled hair very often, if at all. It's solid for light to moderate pet shedding, but not a top-tier option for heavy fur homes.

Noise

The Qrevo S5V is one of the quietest vacuums we tested. It's not silent by any means, but it isn't disruptive.

The dock has a larger footprint than some other brands, but it should still find a low-key spot in your home. The dock's self-emptying cycle is brief but a bit noisy. Our tester noted that it “has a high, windy tone that sounds like a strong fan.”

Vacuuming is a bit quieter. During vacuuming, it produced a steady, low hum that blended into the background and was easy to tune out over time, making it a great option for anyone looking to clean while at home, working, or doing other activities that require some calm.

Mopping

This is where the Qrevo S5V really overdelivers for its class. The dual spinning mops and adjustable water flow deliver deep, consistent scrubbing power, easily handling both dry and wet stains at 100% accuracy during our testing.

After cleaning, the floor was left with what our tester called a “light, watery sheen” instead of a sticky or slimy aftermath that some lesser moppers left us to clean up. You might need to do some manual drying if you're looking for a quick clean, but the floor will certainly be clean.

The self-washing, warm-air drying dock keeps the pads clean and odor-free, which is a huge plus. Unlike high-end models that can heat water in the dock, the Qrevo S5V will use whatever temperature water you fill it with. '

The Roborock Qrevo self-services its mop pads with its onboard water station.
