Our Verdict
Our Roborock Saros 10R Experience
Every robot vacuum claims to be “smart,” but the Roborock Saros 10R actually earns the title. It avoided every obstacle we placed in front of it in real time, including socks and cords. While other vacuums rely on bumping into an object to note its presence, the Saros 10R utilizes AI-powered obstacle avoidance and LiDAR mapping to move around the object before it runs into it.
Its cleaning abilities are just as impressive, tackling carpets, rugs, and hard floors with consistent power and precision. We loved seeing the checkerboard-patterned lines it left behind on our rugs, showing us that nowhere was left unvacuumed. Of course, the very clean floor made this just as obvious.
The vacuum is about as hands-free as they come. The intuitive, feature-rich app is among our favorites to use. Setting schedules was a breeze, and because of the advanced object detection, we didn't need to worry about cleaning up beforehand (a common issue we had with other robot vacs). The self-emptying, self-washing dock made it all even easier — this is a robot you don't need to babysit around your home. In fact, you can kind of forget about it until the dustbin and water station need attention.
Among our favorite features is the “Search for the Pet” function. When activated, the vacuum goes searching for your pet and gives a real-time visual. We loved this for days when we were away from home, and we found it fun to check on our furry friends.
The Saros 10R was one of the few vacuums that didn't annoy us when running. Its noise is minimal and a white-noise like hum that wouldn't wake a sleeping baby, nor did it distract us from work.
That being said, it is very expensive. It costs twice or even three times as much as other very serviceable vacuums. If you've got a tighter budget, this is one area where the splurge might not be worth it. You should also be wary of its only-average pet hair performance if you've got a household with multiple animals.
If you like the sound of this robot, but it's way out of your budget, you should consider the Roborock Qrevo S5V. This robot delivers across-the-board performance at about a third of the price. It's not going to blow you away like the Saros 10R, and you still might need to do a bit of manual spot cleaning, but it's a solid choice for the average household.
Our Analysis and Test Results
Cleaning Performance
The Saros 10R delivers excellent cleaning across carpets, rugs, and hard floors. Carpets show crisp travel marks, with tight, even rows and clean edges. Early eye tests of the cleaning area looked spotless, but on closer inspection, there were a few spots where finer debris was simply lifted to the top of the carpet and not removed entirely. It managed to clean 82% of the debris from the carpet, but you'll want to run your regular vacuum from time to time for deeper cleans.
The robot performed a bit better on hard flooring, clearing 92% of debris. Some trace amount of sand was left behind, but minimally. While not perfect, it's a powerhouse that outshines most other robots in both thoroughness and consistency.
Edges and corners were also no match for the Saros. It is equipped with Roborock's FlexiArm Riser Side Brush that claims to have 100% edge and corner coverage. In our tests, it picked up scattered coffee grounds within 0.1 inches of the wall! Only a few flecks of coffee were left behind.
Navigation
The Saros 10R is a true standout in navigation — it's one of the few robots we tested that managed to avoid every single obstacle we put in its path during testing. Its StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 uses AI and LiDAR mapping to recognize and avoid 108 types of obstacles. It was able to deftly avoid things like simulated pet messes, cords, shoes, and furniture.
Not only does the robot avoid obstacles — it knows what they are and will tell you what it avoided in the app. It can run right over thresholds in your home with ease and never had trouble finding its dock during testing.
After testing numerous robot vacuums, our lead tester decided that this model was a top-tier navigator. “I would have no worries about leaving this robot alone in my house,” they wrote, adding that they wouldn't be concerned with tidying up obstacles before sending it off to clean. That's not something you can do entirely with cheaper models.
The Saros 10R does a good job covering the whole room. We calculated its room coverage at 85%, which is better than average. It hugged edges and corners tightly and even worked its way around desk and chair legs.
Ease Of Use
The Saros 10R makes living with a robot vacuum remarkably simple. The app is intuitive, clearly displaying maps, cleaning progress, and options for customization without overwhelming you. You can save multiple floor maps, set cleaning sequences, and even edit room layouts without much hassle.
Physical controls on the robot itself are responsive and straightforward. Pairing with voice assistants or other smart devices is as simple as well, making it easy to start a cleaning session even without the app. It's capable of connecting with major voice control assistants like Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri Shortcuts, and Google Home.
Overall, this robot is designed to be user-friendly, whether you're a tech novice or a smart-home enthusiast. You might expect robots at the top of the price range to be a bit more complex, but this proves the opposite is true.
Pet Hair
While the Saros 10R excels in most categories, it dips when it comes to pet hair. On initial passes, edges and corners gave it a little trouble, and some strands of hair got temporarily caught between the ends of its dual split brush. Once the robot got into its back-and-forth cleaning rhythm, though, it did a solid job lifting hair across the main floor area. Overall, though, it only vacuumed 56% of hair during testing.
Cleanup is also easier than many competitors, though. The brush design lets you slide hair out quickly without scissors. This robot isn't the worst at tackling pet hair, but it's far from the best, and that's plenty disappointing for a top-of-the-line model. “A little surprised by the results, given its hefty price tag and bold claims,” wrote our tester. More extreme pet hair situations might require a bit of manual cleanup once the Saros 10R has taken a shot at it.
Mopping
The Saros 10R features auto-detachable mops, can refill its water reserves independently, and can even heat water to 176 degrees Fahrenheit. Impressive tech, and it delivers. During testing, it removed even the toughest dried stains, leaving floors visibly clean and lightly damp without over-wetting. The robot manages water release with precision, so you don't get puddles or streaks, and it moves quickly while still covering the entire surface.
“The best performance I have observed thus far,” wrote our tester of its mopping prowess. Few robot vacuums truly excel at both carpet cleaning and mopping, but this model does, and it does so reliably, leaving floors clean without you having to inspect its work.
Noise
Noise levels are impressively low for a high-powered robot vacuum. While you can hear the motor ramp up during deep cleaning or quick turns, it's far quieter than most competitors.
The dock's auto-empty cycle is noticeable but brief, and the sound is more mechanical than harsh, making it easier to live with than cheaper Roborock options. Like any robot vacuum, it does have distinct noises it makes while cleaning heavier stains or making sharp turns in your home, but there's no getting away from that. Our tester still wrote that it “would be a solid choice for those prioritizing sound levels.”
