Performance Comparison
Juice Quality
We test each blender's juice quality with three different recipes:
Can't Beet It, Romaine - Apple - Orange, and the Sunset Blend. The testing results vary from juice to juice, but generally speaking, the Easy Clean Slow Juicer produces somewhat average results.
The Can't Beet It is inconsistent in its taste and texture. One sip is bitter, while the next is sour, and the foam residue has a significant amount of vegetable chunks in it.
The Romaine-Orange-Apple is the best of the three but has some leftover ginger taste to it from a previous recipe, even though we wash it thoroughly between juices.
The Sunset Blend is very grainy, although it's thinner than the other two. the flavor is wonderful, but the texture is inconsistent. The Easy Clean Slow Juicer clearly struggles to make all three juices, emitting a very loud noise and shaking significantly.
Soft Produce
The Easy Clean Slow Juicer performs above average with soft produce like apples, oranges, celery, and cucumber.
The cucumber juice is practically pulp-free, although a small amount of skin remains in the foam. The orange juice is sweet tasting, with minimal pith, no pulp, and a smooth texture. Apple juice is the clear winner of the soft produce juice. It is sweet with no foam, although there are some air bubbles, and there's zero pulp or inconsistency to the texture.
Hard Produce
Unlike soft produce, the Easy Clean Slow Juicer struggles a bit with harder food items. Eight ounces of carrots yield a pulpless 98.5 milliliters of juice after being strained. Once we pass it through the sieve, the texture improves significantly. The beet juice is left with some specks and stringiness throughout but is captured by the sieve, creating a decent texture post-straining. Sweet potatoes produce a very thick foam, and some green bits from previous use are left over even though we clean them between uses.
It is worth noting that because the chute is so small, the hard produce must be chopped into small pieces prior to juicing. It is also extremely loud when juicing beets and sweet potatoes.
Leafy Greens
The Easy Clean Slow Juicer is a masticating juicer that uses a plunger to push the produce into a set of whirring blades below. Masticating juicers work much better for leafy greens, giving it a leg up in this metric.
Wheatgrass shots come out without pulp and a nice consistency. Unfortunately, due to the narrow shoot, feeding the greens into the juicer is slow-moving and difficult. It takes about a minute to feed one-ounce worth of wheatgrass into this juicer, but the outcome is worth the work. Kale is a little pulpy but overall quite smooth. Unfortunately, spinach juice is very thick, and the thin leaves get stuck easily.
Cleaning
Despite the name, the Easy Clean Slow Juicer is not easy to clean. It comes with a brush, which works okay. Trying to wash this juicer without it would be an absolute nightmare. There are so many small nooks that require the brush to push crud out as a hot water spray and a sponge do not cut it. Because it is so hard to clean, we noticed a lot of residual flavors from previously juiced fruits and veggies. On the plus side, it comes with a spout tap which helps to keep your counters clean after juicing.
Should You Buy the Cuisinart Easy Clean Slow Juicer?
Aside from a difficult clean-up, this juicer is a decent kitchen appliance at a relatively affordable price. If you are a wheatgrass fiend, and that is your main concern, the Easy Clean Slow Juicer might be a good option, although there are more versatile juicers in our test suite for the same price.
What Other Juicers Should You Consider?
If you are looking for a centrifugal juicer, there's no better option than the Breville Juice Fountain Plus. It is worth noting, however, that centrifugal juicers do not perform well with leafy greens. If juicing kale and wheat grass is your preference, then the Omega Nutrition Center is an amazing option that still performs well with soft produce; however, it struggles with hard produce like sweet potatoes and is very expensive. The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth is a decent option for those who do not want to spend over $100 on a juicer.
